Architectural – Bespoke – Renovation

NZIA National Award Winner – Sayes Studio Architects

Master Builders Gold Winner – Regional Category Winner – Top 100 NZ Home

This award-winning, architectural Auckland renovation, was a mid-floor slab up rebuild. Designed by Sayes Studio, its clever use of roof pitchers and oversized skylights provide plenty of light flowing right through the inside of the house. This is all achieved to the highest standard even though it is dwarfed by a large masonry, commercial building to the north.

This was a challenging build process due to access, parking and the full architectural design inside and out – one side of the house is a complete firewall due to the close vicinity of the neighbouring commercial building.

Clip-on decks to both ends, full height-plus ceilings and absolutely zero finishing lines, door jams, full height pivot doors as well as challenging angles kept us on our toes throughout the entire build process. All of the frames were built on-site by the boys. An architectural car park pad compliments the building with cedar balusters and a feature cedar wall that is viewed from the bedrooms inside the house.

The finer details of the build from the custom stainless corner flashings, roof flashings, architecturally designed steel balustrades, kitchen island and even bespoke oak feature lights inside the front door meant a lot of communication between owner, architect and builder throughout the home renovation project.

The architect’s design was for everything to come to a point, the end result is definitely on point and something all parties are extremely proud of.
